New Ownership for the Yorktowne Hotel

The Yorktowne Hotel, located at 48 East Market Street in York, PA, was purchased on February 15, 2007 by York Hotel Group, LP.  The new ownership group is comprised of individual investors, and owns hotels throughout the eastern United States. The hotel was formerly owned by a partnership of Susquehanna Pfaltzgraff and The Wolf Organization, two York-based companies who have owned the hotel since 1976, and spent years making significant improvements to the hotel's guest rooms, public spaces, and banquet facilities.

The new ownership group will continue to operate the hotel as the Yorktowne Hotel. The historic hotel houses two restaurants, the Commonwealth Room, York County's only AAA 4-Diamond Award-winner, and the OffCenter Grill.  The hotel will continue to offer one of the area's premiere lodging, banquet, meeting and convention facilities.

"With special thanks to all the employees who helped build the Yorktowne's reputation for quality, the sale of the Yorktowne marks the final stage in a long process of renovation and revitalization," according to George Hodges, Chairman of the Board for The Wolf Organization.

The new ownership group also announced the appointment of Mark Clossey as General Manager.  Clossey brings a wealth of hospitality management experience, having served as the General Manager of Lancaster (PA) Host & Conference Center from 1994 to 2001, and most recently as Resort General Manager of the Bimini Bay Resort & Spa in Davenport, FL.

Guests, Inc., a hospitality management company based in Northern Virginia, has assumed management of the hotel.  Guests, Inc. has managed high quality hotels throughout the region for the past 20 years.  Tim Garner, Regional Director, will be overseeing the hotel on behalf of Guests, Inc.

"The foundation laid by the Susquehanna and Wolf organizations in the areas of community involvement and guest and employee relations are a perfect fit with the philosophy and style of Guests, Inc.," according to Garner.

The new owners, as well as the new management company, are looking forward to becoming acquainted with the local community and to working with the hotel staff.
